Microsoft 365 Copilot
Microsoft's assistant built into Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams, which summarises, drafts and takes meeting notes where you already work.
Nobody has checked this listing against the vendor on a given date. What it says about the tool is believed accurate and describes what the tool is sold to do, but no price, feature or policy below has been confirmed by an editor. Anything marked not checked is exactly that. What we have and have not checked.
What it is good at
Stands out for
- No new tool to adopt if your business already runs on Microsoft 365.
- Meeting notes without a visible third-party bot in the room.
Where it falls down
- It is an add-on on top of a Microsoft 365 subscription, so it is rarely the cheapest way to do any one of these jobs.
- Almost useless if your business does not already live in Microsoft 365.
Jobs it is a candidate for
- Sort my inbox so I only see what mattersDoes this well
Summarises threads and drafts replies inside Outlook, where your mail already is.
- Take notes in my meetingsDoes this well
Takes notes in Teams meetings without a separate bot joining the call.
- Read this long thing for me and tell me what mattersDoes this well
Summarises a Word document or a long thread in place.
- Rewrite this so a normal person understands itDoes this well
Rewrites inside Word, which saves the copy-paste round trip.
