What FOBIE is for
There is no shortage of lists of AI tools. There is a shortage of anywhere to find out which one does the thing you actually need, told in words you can evaluate, by someone who will say when they do not know.
The problem this exists for
If you run a shop, a practice, a round or a small firm, you have been told for two years that AI will change your business. What you have not been told is which bit of it, or by how much, or what it will cost you in evenings to set up.
The tools are sold in a language built for people who already know the category. “Agentic workflow orchestration” is not a thing anybody wants. Not retyping the same booking into three apps is a thing somebody wants. Almost every directory organises around the first kind of phrase, which means you can only find something if you already know what it is called.
So FOBIE is organised the other way round: 21 jobs, phrased the way someone would say them out loud, with 37 tools listed as candidates underneath.
Who it is for
People who are not going to write code, do not want to become an expert in this, and need to make one decision without it taking a fortnight. Every job page is written so that you can judge a sales demo yourself: what a good result looks like, and what usually goes wrong.
It is not for people building AI systems. There is plenty for them elsewhere, and writing for both audiences at once produces a site that serves neither.
What we will not do
- We will not call something a review when nobody used it. The four labels, and what each one means.
- We will not let money move a listing up a page, and we have built it so that we could not do so quietly if we wanted to. How that is enforced.
- We will not fill a blank with a guess. Where we do not know, the page says we do not know. Everything we have not checked.
- We will not pretend a new site is an established one. It launched with no published reviews and says so on the front page.
Who publishes it
FOBIE.ai is published by Caliber Ridge Holdings. It is independent of every vendor listed: none of them has any say over what this site says about them, and none of them sees a review before it publishes except to check a fact.
